DinoStore: The Fun Part of a Child’s Visit to a Pediatric Hospital!
Children of all ages find a true comfort in playing with toys or items appropriate for their age. Toys have been known to comfort cries, distract from the unknown and encourage conversation. This is why the DinoStore at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia in Augusta, has become an important part of preparing children for pediatric surgery.
Undergoing surgery at any age can be frightening. By offering our children the opportunity to select and keep a toy from the DinoStore, they gain control over a situation where most choices are made for them. Their new toy also serves as a conversation piece for the doctors and nurses as they continue to build confidence and trust with the child.
Whether or not this is the first time the patient has had surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, the DinoStore offers them the familiarity of a special toy and the opportunity to have a choice in the process.

The DinoStore is supported by donations from community groups, organizations and individuals. Without the support of our community friends, the quality and quantity of toys would be quite limited.
The Children’s Hospital of Georgia accepts new toys in the original package as well as financial donations.
The DinoStore always needs infant toys and teen items. To drop off your DinoStore donations, see the center’s front desk receptionist or deliver to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia Family Services Development Office, Suite 1964. Please be sure to include your name and address with your donation.
