Charles W. Linder, MD FAAP
Chairman, MCG Department of Pediatrics

Co-Medical Director of the Children’s Hospital of Georgia

With more than 35 years of pediatric experience at the Medical College. Dr. Charles W. Linder was instrumental in the establishment of the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, the Ronald McDonald House and many other child health programs. He is the founding director of the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.

Dr. Linder earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Furman University and received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed postdoctoral training and pediatric residency at Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Denver, Colorado. He then served his country with distinction as a major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.

Following his military service, Dr. Linder returned to the Medical College of Georgia as an instructor in pediatrics while completing a pediatric allergy and respiratory disease fellowship at the Children’s Medical Center. He rose to the rank of professor and has served as associate dean, hospital chief of staff and chief medical officer of the Medical College of Georgia hospitals and clinics. At the medical college, he is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Linder has received numerous awards, including the Georgia Regents Medical Center School of Medicine’s Distinguished Alumnus Award. He has served on the Governor of Georgia Commission on Children and Youth and has held multiple offices in the Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, including a four-year term as president. He received the Leila Denmark Lifetime Achievement Award from the chapter and has also served as honorary president. He is certified by the Georgia State Board of Medical Examiners and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics where he has held numerous leadership roles including a six-year term on the board of directors. He has held membership in the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physician Executives, Ambulatory Pediatric Society, Richmond County Medical Society, the Medical Association of Georgia and the American Medical Association. Dr. Linder has received several grants, is published in numerous journals and has presented nationally on numerous pediatric topics. The Charles W. Linder, M.D. Endowed Chair in Pediatrics was established in 2010 in his honor.

Dr. Linder has received numerous awards including; the Georgia Regents Medical Center School of Medicine’s Distinguished Alumnus Award and The Denmark Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  He is certified by the Georgia State Board of Medical Examiners and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics where he has held numerous leadership roles including member of the Board of Directors. He has held membership of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physician Executives, Ambulatory Pediatric Society, Richmond County Medical Society; the Medical Association of Georgia; the American Medical Association. He has received several grants, is published in numerous journals and has presented nationally on numerous pediatric topics, including.  outstanding faculty and outstanding teaching awards. Dr. Linder served his country with distinction as a Major, U.S. Army Medical Corps
