Dr. Stil Kountakis is the Edward S. Porubsky Distinguished Professor and Chairman of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Georgia Regents University.  Dr. Kountakis joined the faculty at GRU in July of 2003 as Professor and Vice-Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology and as the Chief of Rhinology/Sinus Surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas-Houston Medical School and served his residencies in general surgery and in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Texas affiliated hospitals in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Kountakis is Vice President of the Southern Section of the Triological Society, and a Past President of the American Rhinologic Society and the Georgia Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. In 2011, he received the Golden Mirror Teaching Award of the ARS. He has held several leadership appointments within the Georgia Regents Medical Associates (practice group) from 2006 to 2014 and was chair of the Practice Group from 2010 to 2012.

Dr. Kountakis’ research interests include clinical, physiological, genetic and immune-basic science parameters of chronic rhinosinusitis and medical-surgical outcomes.
