Leading the Nation in Patient- and Family-Centered Care
I could do more to help him than just sit in a waiting room.
Peggy Elliott
When my husband John had brain surgery at MCG, I was able to be with him practically the entire time. I was able to hold his hand and reassure him after the surgery that he was okay. That was very comforting to him, and to me. It’s important for me to be a part of the process, rather than just sitting in the waiting room, wondering what’s happening. His doctors went out of their way to make sure that we were both well informed. The more I know about his medications, treatment and care, the better prepared I am to care for him at home. And Georgia Regents Medical Center understands that. That’s what patient- and family-centered care is all about.
Georgia Regents Medical Center is leading the nation in patient- and family-centered care. By encouraging patients and families to become an integral part of the care team, we are improving the way health care is delivered. It’s an important new philosophy in medicine and one we are proud to be leading.
