Cervical motion segment

The Cervical motion segment is the basic unit of movement in the cervical spine and consists of two adjacent cervical vertebral bodies and an intervening cervical disc. It is stabilized by several important soft tissue structures: the posterior longitudinal ligament (PLL), anterior longitudinal ligament (ALL), interspinous ligament, ligamentum flavum (Yellow ligament) and the facet capsules.
