As a national pioneer of Patient- and Family-Centered Care, Georgia Regents Medical Center has been at the forefront of health care reform since the early 90s, and we’re still being recognized for our accomplishments today.
Here are some of our most recent highlights:
2015
- 14 physicians named "America’s Top Doctors,” the top 1 percent in the nation.
- Gold Standard Cancer Certification and American Heart Association Gold Level Fit-Friendly workplace.
- Children' s Hospital of Georgia was the top performing hospital in the nation in 2014 in quality and safety in the University HealthSystem Consortium.
- Children’s Hospital of Georgia’s ECMO program recognized for the fifth consecutive time with an international Award for Excellence in Life Support from the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization. The ELSO Award is recognized by U.S. News and World Report and Parents magazine as criteria for top pediatric hospitals.
- Caregiver Action Network named Georgia Regents Medical Center to the Nation’s 25 Best Practices in Patient and Family Engagement. Only nine U.S. hospital systems were recognized, and the medical center was the only one in Georgia.
- Georgia Regents Medical Center has earned a statewide award for enhancing cardiac care from the Partnership for Health and Accountability, an affiliate of the Georgia Hospital Association, for successfully managing blood sugar levels in heart surgery patients.
- Georgia Regents Medical Center – the first hospital in the Peach State to achieve Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center designation from the Joint Commission – was recently reaccredited and remains the only such center outside Atlanta in Georgia.
- Roosevelt Warm Springs Rehabilitation & Specialty Hospitals has earned the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval® by demonstrating compliance with national standards for health care quality and safety in patient care. The Roosevelt Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital earned gold for stroke care, and the Roosevelt Long Term Acute Care Hospital for wound care.

- Gold Standard Cancer Certification
- Josh Nahum Award for Patient Safety for central line-associated bloodstream infection prevention program
- LifeLink of Georgia Gold Award for organ, eye, and tissue donation and registration efforts through the Workplace Partnership for Life Hospital Campaign.
In 2013
- Georgia Regents Medical Center has earned national recognition for exemplary Patient- and Family-Centered Care practices in radiology.
- 14 Georgia Regents Medical Center physicians named "America’s Top Doctors”
- Named to the Chairman’s Circle by the Georgia Hospital Association as a patient safety leader in 2012.
- Took first place in the Partnership for Health and Accountability’s 2012 Quality and Patient Safety Awards, earning the prestigious Josh Nahum Special Achievement Award for Infection Prevention and Control.
- The Primary Stroke Center at Georgia Regents Medical Center was named Georgia's first and only Joint Commission-designated Advance Comprehensive Stroke Center for the most complex stroke cases.
- The Primary Stroke Center at Georgia Regents Medical Center was named the Target: Stroke Honor Roll by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for excellence in emergency stroke care.

Georgia Regents Health System has been recognized as the No. 1 hospital among consumers in the Augusta metro area for overall quality and image by the National Research Corporation.
In 2010
- 18 Georgia Regents Medical Center physicians were included in the list of America's Top Doctors, as published by Castle Connolly, in their specialties.
- Five Georgia Regents Medical Center Cancer Physicians were named America's Top Doctors for Cancer.
- The ECMO Team at the Children's Medical Center won the international ELSO Award for excellence in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, a life-saving measure often administered to critically ill children.
In 2009
- Georgia Regents Medical Center was named one of only six models in the nation for exemplifying Patient Family Centered Care by the Picker Institute.
- Children's Medical Center has been ranked at the top for patient safety in an AHRQ composite measure, ranking higher than 99 other hospitals in the UHC.
- Georgia Regents Medical Center won the prestigious 2009 Socius Award from the National Patient Safety Foundation for promoting positive and effective partnering between patients, families and health care providers in the pursuit of improved patient safety.
- More than a dozen Georgia Regents Medical Center physicians are included annually as America’s Top Doctors, a consumer health care referral book published by Castle Connelly, which includes only the top 1 percent of physicians in the nation by specialty.
- Georgia Regents Medical Center has had the only Augusta area physicians named as America’s Top Doctors for Cancer and as America's Top Doctors in other specialties and subspecialties.
- For four out of five years, Georgia Regents Medical Center made the Community Value Index Top 100 list, the only Georgia health system so named by Cleverly + Associates for adding value to the community.
- Georgia Regents Medical Center was named one of Thomson-Reuters 100 Top Hospitals in 2003 and 2007.
- In 2001 and 2004, Georgia Regents Medical Center was named to the U.S. News & World Report annual list of “America’s Best Hospitals.”
