PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT GOES 24/7
The expertise of many, devoted to the care of one. Your child.
If your child has a medical emergency, there is a dedicated pediatric Emergency Department right here in Augusta with a well-trained team that can provide rapid emergency care to children of all ages and stages. And it is now open 24/7! CHOG serves children and families in about a 150-mile radius of Augusta, reaching into South Carolina and south Georgia. About 30,000 children come through the ER doors each year for everything from bruises and broken bones to appendicitis and traumatic injuries.
CHOG has the area’s only pediatric trauma unit with a staff trained to care for traumatic injuries in children and to coordinate care requiring immediate surgical interventions. Our teams provide fast, easy access to pediatric pulmonologists, cardiologists, surgeons, and other pediatric specialists to meet your child’s critical care needs. We also have a Child Life Specialist to help children understand and cope with treatment in the Emergency Department.
CHOG recently completed the first renovation in 15 years. Improvements include:
• Expanding from 13 beds to a 16-bed unit
• A new rapid triage room in the waiting area
• Rooms that are uniquely designed to be child-friendly with night lights, vivid colors, and a safe and comfortable environment
• And, of course, our 24/7 hours.
The Augusta area is very fortunate to have the Children’s Hospital of Georgia Emergency Department. Our staff provides expertise and peace of mind to families during some of their most trying moments. We are open 24/7 to serve your needs anytime an injury may occur.
