Test Your Heart Attack Risk 

  • Coronary Calcium Scans. This easy, 15-minute test is up to 10 times more accurate at predicting your heart attack risk than traditional diagnostic methods. It looks for specks of calcium in the walls of your heart arteries, an early sign of heart disease. 
  • Full Coronary Computed Tomography Angiograms (CTAs). This non-invasive test lasts only a minute, and uses a contrast material and advanced x-ray technology to get a 3D, moving picture of your heart and blood vessels.

Echocardiograms, Electrocardiograms and Other Advanced Diagnostics at Georgia Regents

  • Echocardiograms. Our center features the only lab in the area that is accredited in adult and pediatric echocardiograms by the Intersocietal Commission for Accreditation of Echocardiology Laboratories (ICAEL). We also offer specialized transesophageal and stress echocardiograms. 
  • Electrocardiograms, Holter Monitors and Event and Loop Recorders. These devices record your heart’s electrical activity at rest and during normal activity.
  • Stress Tests.  Stress tests (Exercise EKG, Exercise Echo, and Dobutamine Echo), record your heart’s function while exercising or under stress. Nuclear Stress Tests use radioactive isotopes to further define what parts of your heart are functioning normally and which are not.
  • 64-Slice CT Scanner. This is the latest technology for non-invasive heart and vascular screens that can detect blockages in seconds.
  • Impedance Cardiography. This noninvasive test provides information about your heart's ability to deliver blood to the rest of your body.

Ultrasound and More for Vascular Disease

  • Vascular Ultrasounds. This non-invasive test uses sound waves to assess the blood vessels. Doppler (Venous and Carotid) ultrasound measures blood flow.
  • Ankle Brachial Index (ABI). This simple test compares blood pressure at the ankle and in the arm at rest and after exercise to determine if you have peripheral vascular disease. 
  • Vascular Angiography. This invasive diagnostic test uses a catheter to inject a contrast material and x-rays to find plaque buildup in the peripheral arteries in the lower abdomen, kidneys, arms, legs and feet.

  • Microvascular Circulation Tests. These tests determine how much oxygen is reaching tissue and help patients with peripheral vascular disease and their caregivers decide on a treatment plan.
