2009 Teen Board Members

Tam is a junior at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School in Augusta, GA. He enjoys studying science, particularly in the fields of biology and chemistry and plans to study medicine in college. He is an active member of Davidson's Science bowl, Science Olympiad and Academic Bowl teams. Aside from academics, Tam studies graphic design and 2-D art.

Tam has played the piano for 8 years and continues to study classical piano with his  teacher as well as play jazz piano for Davidson's Jazz Combo. Tam also plays on his schools golf, tennis, soccer and ultimate frisbee teams.

Tam has a younger sister and brother and a cat named Blanca. Tam loves animals, particularly cats, but says he loves all none the less.

Alex Bowen

Alex is 16 years old and a sophomore at Southgate Christian School. Alex has received awards in science and English. His hobbies include playing the piano, guitar, singing, drawing and reading. Alex also enjoys listening to music and hanging out with friends.


 

Felicia Brinson

Felicia is a senior at A.R. Johnson Health Science & Engineering Magnet High School. In school she is involved in several type of clubs like Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Health Occupations Student of America (HOSA). Felicia recently was a teen volunteer at Georgia Regents Medical Center and earned 34 hours volunteering in the Kidney Transplant area.  In the near future she would like to attend a college in Georgia and pursue her dreams of being a pediatrician.

Taylor Mitchell

Taylor Y. Mitchell is the daughter of Yule and Beverly Mitchell. She is a junior at John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School.  After graduation, she plans to attend college and major in Biology. She aspires to become Obstetrician/ Gynecologist. She enjoys all styles of dance; however, tap and jazz are her favorite. She is actively involved within her community, church, and school. For the past two summers, she has volunteered at the United Way, Georgia Regents Medical Center, and University of Hospitals for over 400 hours.  At church, she is the Youth Department President and Director of the Praise Dance Team, and, also, ushers and sings. At school, she is ranked at the top of her class and is a member of National Honor and English Honor Society, Spanish Club, and Math Club and serves as Vice President of her Junior Class. She is honored to be a new member of the Georgia Regents Medical Center Volunteen Program.


 
Anna Aquinde

"My name is Anna O'Brien Aquinde. I am a senior at Augusta Preparatory Day School. I am still undecided where I plan to attend college: however, I do know I would like to major in Biology and minor in Spanish. Furthermore, I have decided I would like to attend the Medical College of South Carolina and become an E.N.T. doctor. I play tennis and swim for my school. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends and family and going to the beach."

"My name is Sophia Goulet. I'm 16 years old, and I'm a sophomore at Westside High School. I love to go to football games, and hanging with my friends. I enjoy shopping, skating, and playing on the computer. I want to be a physical therapist when I grow up."

Patricia Michelle Haynes

My name is P. Michelle Haynes.  I am a 15 year old sophomore at A. R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School.  This past summer I was fortunate enough to volunteer at the Georgia Regents Medical Center gift shop, the Little Store.  My goals are to be a psychologist, and I hope to attend Mercer University.  I am the proud owner of a tuxedo cat named Blossom.  My hobbies are creative writing, readings and practicing French. I am privileged to be a new member on the Volunteen Board.

 

Kevan Khaksarfard

Kevan was born at  Children’s Hospital of Georgia on March 17th, 1993 in Augusta, Georgia.  His family includes his father, Mohammad, and his brother, Kameron, who have been great influences on who he is today.  He went from Stevens Creek Elementary, to Riverside Middle, and finally to Lakeside High School.  He has been on the honor roll throughout his school career.  His hobbies include training in mixed martial-arts, working on technological equipment, and studying with friends.  In the future, he wants to become an officer in the United States’ Military as a neurosurgeon.
