Long Term Acute Care Hospital

Our Joint Commission Accredited Roosevelt Warm Springs Long Term Acute Hospital provides our patients with physician lead teams applying their expertise for the best possible outcome to return our patients to their highest level of health.

At Roosevelt Warm Springs Long Term Acute Care Hospital (RWSHL), patients are admitted from an acute care hospital, often from intensive care or step down units, and have an average length of stay with us of 25 days.  Our patients are medically complex requiring multi-specialty medical services provided by board certified physicians making daily rounds and registered nurses providing 24 hour complete care.  Completing the interdisciplinary team of professionals as needed by the patient may include respiratory therapist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech language pathologist, registered dietician, clinical pharmacist and case managers.  We care for critically ill patients who have multiple co-morbidities, multi organ system failure and require specialized care.

Our highly trained and knowledgeable staff not only provides exceptional care for our patients but they provide support to the family as they cope with the stress of illness.  Family is welcome to participate in the care of our patients at any time.  When discharge from our hospital, the team will assist with this transition to make it as smooth as possible

Patients admitted to long term acute care must meet certain requirements established by Medicare.  

Vent Weaning Program

Our hospital provides care to patients who have complex respiratory disorders.  The goal for our ventilator weaning program is to help patients who require mechanical ventilation to breathe on their own again.  Our hospital has Respiratory Therapists on staff 24 hours a day and our ventilator weaning program is overseen by a board-certified Pulmonologist.  Many patients referred to us have been considered unable to wean and we have successfully weaned 78% of these cases since 2011.  Our Ventilator Acquired Pneumonia (VAP) rate has been 0%
